About

Part of an international collective supporting the advancement of dance documentation, the free and open to the public DNB Ext. Center promotes the discovery of how to record your own dances, and access to dance literature, film, video, images, photographs, computer programs and code, and archival materials for students, staff, faculty, and our community throughout Ohio, the nation, and the world.

Founded in 1968 in a joint press conference of the Dance Notation Bureau, New York, NY, and the Office of the President at The Ohio State University, the center’s unique and formal agreement with the Dance Notation Bureau is the only of its kind in the country. The center allows scholars and students affiliated with the center access to one of the world’s largest collections of teaching and research materials.

Faculty and alumni support the global community of analysis, preservation, and documentation by participation in, and service on, the boards of the International Council of Kinetography Laban/Labanotation Paris, France. In addition, serving on the Dance Notation Bureau, New York, New York.
