Lale Madenoglu is a contemporary dance artist, choreographer and instructor born in Izmir, Turkey. She graduated with honors from the Contemporary Dance Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2021. She was awarded the Fulbright Master's Grant of the Turkish Fulbright Commission and chose to pursue an MFA degree in Dance at The Ohio State University in 2024. Her research focus is exploring ways in which consciousness accessed through somatic work, especially Body-Mind Centering, fosters creativity and authenticity in choreography-making.
She started teaching ballet in 2018, and since 2019, she has been conducting classes in contemporary dance technique, improvisation and somatic awareness for various age groups and levels. Lale started her dance education with classical ballet in 2003-2016. Intrigued by exploring more free and authentic movement possibilities, she shifted to contemporary dance under the guidance of Cansu Ergin. During her Bachelor's, she attended many international workshops such as P.A.R.T.S. Summer School in Brussels, b12 festival in Berlin and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui Repertory in Turin. She is also involved with somatic movement practices such as Body-Mind Centering and Skinner Releasing Technique. Her works have been presented at the Body-Mind Centering Association Conferences.
She staged her choreographies in Turkey, Europe, Russia and the United States and worked as a creative performer in the works of independent choreographers.
Her solo "desideratum" won the 3rd prize at the Allegretto Grazioso Dance Competition in Moscow.
Her article "Dance as an Alternative Approach to Life" was published in Contact Quarterly Dance and Improvisation Journal in 2020.
She completed the Yale University Anatomy Specialization and studied the body's connective tissues with Tom Myers.
In 2023 and 2024, she performed her latest solo choreography, mentored by Cansu Ergin, "I am justified, from ground to sky" at Alan Kadıköy, MSFAU Alumni Performances, METU Contemporary Dance Days and Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası.
