Dear Friends and Alumni,
As we anticipate the New Year, we mourn the loss of our beloved Vickie Blaine, who passed away on Dec. 26, 2016. Last Sunday, our Barnett Theatre overflowed with family, friends, colleagues and alumni celebrating her life and legacy. To all who attended and the dozens of you who sent cherished memories, we are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and gratitude for this remarkable woman. Please find Vickie’s obituary and a slideshow of images from throughout her life here on our departmental website.
I am excited to share the Winter 2017 edition of InForm, which highlights some of the wonderful work our faculty and students produced during autumn semester. We hope you enjoy reading about our featured performances in the Wexner Center exhibition on Black Mountain College, our collaboration with the School of Music to produce the classic opera Dido and Aeneas, and another fantastic year of Dance Downtown. In this edition, we also include a special farewell to Distinguished Professor Bebe Miller, who retired at the end of the semester.
As usual, we are already looking forward to several exciting shows coming up this winter and spring, and we hope you'll join us for as many as you can.
- From Feb. 2 to Feb. 4, undergraduate and graduate students will present Winter Concert 2017, featuring solo and group works that highlight a range of ideas and concepts they’ve explored throughout the year.
- On Feb. 9, Associate Professor Mitchell Rose will host another fascinating installment of Dance @ 30 FPS, a program that features vibrant, award-winning shorts that showcase the latest fusions of filmmaking and dance from around the world.
- And from March 2 to March 4, BFA students in the graduating class of 2017 will share their culminating senior projects, crafted through diverse lenses and voices.
To see more of what's coming up this year, please check out the events on our website. As always, we thank you for your continued support, and look forward to seeing you at one of our shows.
