Our studios and classrooms are abuzz with eager students arriving for the new school year, as we look forward to our fiftieth anniversary events this November. Rehearsals have already begun for performances in the Barnett Theatre and Motion Lab. Our new interactive digital archive grows under the artistic supervision of media manager Chris Summers, and BFA senior Abby Frank plans our alumni brunch event. This issue of InForm takes a moment to look back as well. Ohio State Dance is proud of its long history of active presence at many summer dance festivals and leadership institutes due in large part to our strong network of supportive alumni who continually open doors with amazing opportunities for our students. In summer 2018, several students and alumni made work, conducted research, and networked at the American Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow and Urban Bush Women Summer Leadership Institute.
We also welcome two new faculty members: Dr. Nadine George-Graves and Dr. Nyama McCarthy-Brown. We anticipate their leadership as we grow and change to create our next fifty years at the forefront of contemporary dance.
We are pleased to announce the new Dance Innovation Fund, with an initial ask of $100,000 towards the goal of endowing continuing contributions to equipment, technology and facilities, keeping us at the forefront of innovation in dance creation and production for the next 50 years.
